Job summary

Wärtsilä in Bermeo, Spain, seeks an experienced R&D Test Engineer to join our team focused on advanced engine testing and safety. The role centers on planning, executing and evaluating tests, while collaborating with plant, instrumentation and RDE experts to ensure reliable results and continuous improvement.

You will lead a technical team, interpret complex diagrams, and document findings for stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree in electronic/automation, mechanical, energy, or industrial engineering.
• Experience with internal combustion engines is preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate activities in an industrial environment.
• Interpret and validate electrical, hydraulic, and automation diagrams.
• Make sound technical decisions under pressure to keep projects on schedule.
• Proficiency in data acquisition and analysis tools.
• Familiarity with industrial safety standards and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and execute engine tests under various load and running conditions.
• Report and document test results; prepare technical reports for internal stakeholders.
• Monitor and analyze test data; identify anomalies and propose corrective actions.
• Coordinate with plant teams, I&M and RDE experts to secure resources and readiness.
• Manage technical issues and support operational decisions.
• Lead and supervise mechanic-operator team during tests and tech activities.
• Ensure safety of all personnel by enforcing safety protocols.
• Participate in progress meetings with Manager Engine Testing to review requirements.
• Contribute to innovation and process improvement in testing methodologies.
