WACKER, in León, ESP, is seeking a Process Engineer to design and optimize manufacturing processes for plants to be built. The role involves collaborating with global teams in a multicultural environment, gathering data, performing mass and energy balances, and developing process documentation.

The ideal candidate has a background in industrial or chemical engineering, knowledge of biotechnological processes, and experience in chemical/food/pharma sectors.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering / Chemical Engineering
• Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering (preferred)
• Experience across chemical, food, pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries; knowledge of biotechnological processes

Responsabilidades

• Design new manufacturing processes for plants to be built, ensuring safe, efficient and environmentally friendly operation
• Gather key design data from all relevant departments
• Perform mass and energy balances
• Prepare P&IDs
• Conduct technical-economic feasibility studies
• Lead risk analyses for industrial and food safety
• Define the control strategy
• Define the production schedule
• Prepare process documentation
• Identify critical control points
• Prepare SOPs
• Train staff
• Estimate operating and investment costs
• Define main process equipment
• Define materials according to process and quality
• Define and evaluate pilot tests
• Lead commissioning activities

Responsibilities

• Design new manufacturing processes for the plants to be built, ensuring their future operation is safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly. To do so, you will:
• Gather key design data from all relevant departments.
• Perform mass and energy balances.
• Prepare the P&IDs
• Conduct the technical-economic feasibility study
• Lead risk analyses from the perspective of industrial and food safety
• Define the control strategy
• Define the production schedule
• Prepare process documentation
• Identify critical control points
• Prepare the SOPs.
• Train staff
• Estimate operating and investment costs.
• Define the main process equipment.
• Define materials in accordance with the process and required quality.
• Define and evaluate pilot tests.
• Lead commissioning activities

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering / Chemical Engineering
• Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering (preferred)

Skills

• In-depth knowledge of the chemical, food, and pharmaceutical industries.
• Knowledge of biotechnological processes
• Knowledge of relevant standards and guidelines in the field of facility safety and environmental protection
• Technical expertise in batch and continuous processes
• Strong conflict management skills.
• Excellence in technical problem-solving.
• Knowledge of SAP.
• Very good knowledge of Spanish and English
• Proficiency in process simulation tools.
• Expertise in energy efficiency and carbon footprint.

Experience

• Several years of professional experience as a process engineer in the chemical, food, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industry
• Experience in process optimization.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience as a Project Manager on projects in the range of 1 million euros is a plus.
