Job summary

Faes Farma is seeking an experienced Principal Scientist – Formulation Development to join our Pharmaceutical Development team. This is a key technical leadership role, driving innovation in pharmaceutical product development and leading complex formulation projects.

You will design preformulation and formulation studies for oral, dermal and ophthalmic products, coordinate cross-functional activities, collaborate with CROs and external partners, and ensure GMP, ICH and regulatory compliance

Qualifications

• PhD, MSc or equivalent degree in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• At least 8 years of experience in Pharmaceutical Development within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or healthcare industry.
• Demonstrated experience in formulation design, preformulation studies, product characterisation and stability assessment.
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical development regulations and GMP requirements.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate effectively in technical, scientific and business environments.

Responsibilities

• Designing, planning and executing preformulation and formulation development studies for oral, dermal and ophthalmic products, aligned with project objectives and portfolio strategy.
• Coordinating project activities, resources, timelines and deliverables, while providing scientific and technical leadership.
• Evaluating the technical feasibility of new product concepts, technologies and innovation opportunities.
• Leading troubleshooting activities and proposing solutions to technical challenges throughout product development.
• Collaborating closely with Analytical Development, Manufacturing, Quality and Technical Operations teams on scale-up, technology transfer and process optimisation.
• Managing activities with CROs and external partners, including protocol review, study monitoring and technical oversight.
• Preparing technical reports, development documentation and regulatory support documents.
• Ensuring compliance with GMP, ICH guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures and controlled documentation.
• Contributing to scientific publications, patents and conference presentations.
