Job summary

Escape Velocity Entertainment is seeking a Principal Combat Designer to drive the combat system across diverse characters and online multiplayer. You will craft expert combat mechanics, weapons and abilities while aligning with art and engineering before implementation for a seamless player experience.

The role requires shipped AAA titles, deep knowledge of contemporary gameplay features, and exceptional communication. This fully remote position offers global collaboration and strong benefits.

Qualifications

• A can-do attitude that is player oriented; simplicity is a player’s best friend.
• At least two shipped AAA titles where you worked in mechanics design.
• Expert knowledge of off-the-shelf design tools and Unreal Engine (UE5 preferred).
• Deep professional understanding of major mechanics and gameplay features.
• Strong creative and technical problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Design Director and leads to drive combat design for online multiplayer.
• Design and craft expert-level player combat mechanics, weapons and abilities.
• Coordinate with art and engineering to align mechanics before development.
• Advocate for the player experience in design decisions.
