Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking a Principal Data Scientist – AI/ML and Optimization, primarily in Madrid. You will develop ML, optimization, and GenAI pipelines to support global clinical operations including enrollment forecasting and cost estimation. The role involves cross-functional collaboration and leadership to drive data-driven decisions.

The ideal candidate has a Ph.D. in a quantitative field and 5+ years of industry DS experience with ML, optimization, NLP, and GenAI,

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., CS, ECE, biostatistics, health econ, biomedical informatics).
• 5+ years in industry delivering DS projects using ML, optimization, NLP, GenAI.
• Hands-on multi-modal ML modeling and stochastic time-series sims.
• Experience with multi-objective optimization engines and Evolutionary/ MILP methods.
• GenAI and clinical LLMs for document parsing and harmonization.

Responsibilities

• Conceive, develop, and implement ML and multi-objective optimization to support clinical operations.
• Leverage real-world data to develop ML models and optimization engines for decision-making.
• Build explainable decision-support systems and present results to diverse audiences.
• Coach juniors and integrate LLMs for information extraction and protocol analysis.
