Job summary

CIC biomaGUNE is seeking a laboratory technician to support a multidisciplinary project evaluating new therapeutic strategies for ischemic stroke. You will work on animal models of cerebral ischemia, including MCAO, with MRI and behavioural assessments, under strict welfare and regulatory guidelines.

The role offers access to advanced imaging infrastructure and collaboration across neuroscience and imaging teams.

Qualifications

• Accreditation and demonstrated experience in the handling and care of laboratory animals.
• Practical experience in experimental animal procedures and post-operative monitoring.
• Experience with non-invasive imaging techniques, preferably preclinical MRI.
• Experience with behavioural testing in laboratory animals.
• Ability to follow established experimental protocols and maintain records.
• Strong organizational and coordination skills for procedures and imaging sessions.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative research environment.
• Good written and verbal communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Handling, monitoring, and routine care for laboratory animals following ethical regulations.
• Performing and assisting with MCAO models of cerebral ischemia.
• Administering experimental treatments and post-operative monitoring.
• Planning and performing behavioural tests to assess neurological deficits and recovery.
• Assisting with preclinical MRI examinations and image acquisition.
• Processing and analyzing behavioural, imaging, and experimental data.
• Maintaining experimental records and quality-control procedures.
• Preparing technical reports and presentations; coordinating activities with staff.
• Ensuring compliance with safety and animal welfare regulations.
