Job summary

ALBA is a major Spanish synchrotron light source located near Barcelona, Catalonia. The institution seeks a Geomatics/Topography Engineer to lead alignment, metrology and instrumentation tasks for accelerators, beamlines and supports.

The role includes quality control, design supervision and cross‑group coordination. The successful candidate will have a degree in Geomatics and Topography, proven metrology experience, and English at B2 level.

Qualifications

Advanced training related to alignment networks, metrology and high‑precision measurement techniques.
Experience in metrology of mechanical components and assemblies.
Experience in operation, maintenance and calibration of Survey & Alignment instrumentation and metrology equipment, especially with the Laser Tracker & 3D arm.
Experience in vibration and mechanical stability measurements, including data analysis and interpretation.
Training and/or experience in metrology, survey and alignment software, data processing and analysis tools.
English level (B2)

Responsibilities

To execute alignment processes for components during installation and maintenance phases.
To prepare and perform quality control for new parts and components (mechanical metrology).
To operate and maintain the instrumentation at the S&A group.
To perform the conceptual design and monitor the production of auxiliary mechanical components for alignment tasks.
To conduct vibration measurement campaigns and process results.
To coordinate tasks with other engineering groups to integrate alignment specifications.
To produce results reports and perform necessary calculations.
