Job summary

iPronics is seeking a Photonic IC Designer to join the Photonics Department in Valencia. The role is primarily on-site with some flexibility to work remotely.

Responsibilities include designing and simulating photonic components, applying inverse design and adjoint optimization, and developing Python-based layouts for building blocks. Requires 2–3+ years with FDTD tools and fluent English.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc degree in Telecommunication Engineering or Physics with focus on Integrated Photonics.
• 2–3+ years experience using photonics FDTD tools (Lumerical, Tidy3D, Comsol).
• Strong experience with Python-based layout tools for photonic building blocks.
• Reliable, proactive, and self-motivated with excellent communication.
• Fluent in English (C1 level or higher).

Responsibilities

• Design and simulate photonic components using Lumerical FDTD, MODE, and other tools.
• Use inverse design and adjoint optimization.
• Optimize photonic components and analyze reliability under fabrication variations.
• Develop Python-based layouts of photonic building blocks (e.g., GDSfactory or KLayout).
• Drive R&D of innovative photonic design ideas and solutions.
• Translate system requirements into photonic IC designs and deliver clear reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional design groups for measurability and integration.
