Job summary

CONVOTIS Iberia is seeking an experienced network security professional to manage and document VPNs, firewall rules, and complex network designs across projects.

The role emphasizes hands-on pfSense/OPNsense expertise, BGP, Proxmox, IPv4/IPv6, and a commitment to clean documentation. Fluent English and Spanish are required, with German a plus; hybrid work and ongoing training are available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience (excluding educational programs and internships).
• Deep hands-on knowledge of pfSense and OPNsense.
• Experience with IPSec VPNs and dynamic routing protocols (e.g., BGP).
• Proxmox networking experience and familiarity with switches (Dell preferred).
• Strong IPv4/IPv6 handling and network automation basics (Ansible, Python, Bash).
• Ability to document configurations clearly and maintainables.
• Fluent in English and Spanish; German is a plus.

Responsibilities

• You manage network and firewall topics across CONVOTIS / MCON, from day-to-day operations to project work.
• You implement and document IPSec VPNs and firewall rules on pfSense and OPNsense.
• You design and document network environments for customer/internal projects with thorough documentation.
• You troubleshoot advanced issues including deep packet analysis, routing, switching, and VPN connectivity.
• You introduce basic network automation to streamline deployments (Ansible, Python, Bash).
• You collaborate with the SOC team to analyze firewall logs and mitigate incidents.
• You train and onboard colleagues and share knowledge within the team.
• You propose improvements to configurations and technical details.
• You participate in shift duties with NOC/SOC Operations Team (nights, weekends, holidays).
• You may take on tasks beyond core role to broaden knowledge or aid colleagues.

What To Expect

• You take care of network and firewall topics across CONVOTIS / MCON, from day-to-day operations to project work
• You independently implement and document IPSec VPNs and firewall rules on pfSense and OPNsense
• You design and document network environments for customer and internal projects, following our principle of documenting everything before implementation
• You perform advanced troubleshooting, including deep packet analysis and resolving complex routing, switching and VPN connectivity issues
• You introduce basic network automation (e.g. Ansible, Python or Bash) to streamline deployments
• You work closely with our SOC team to analyze firewall logs and help mitigate security incidents
• You train and onboard new colleagues and share your knowledge within the team
• You actively suggest improvements to configurations and technical details
• As part of our duty roster, you take part in shift duties together with the NOC/SOC Operations Team, including nights, weekends and holidays
• You are open to taking on tasks beyond your core role, whether to broaden your own knowledge or to support your colleagues

What We're Looking For

• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience (excluding educational programs and internships)
• Extended hands‑on knowledge of pfSense and OPNsense, IPSec VPNs, BGP or other dynamic routing protocols, switches (preferably Dell), and networking on Proxmox
• In-depth knowledge of handling IPv4 and IPv6
• First experience with network automation using Ansible, Python or Bash
• An independent and structured way of working, with a strong focus on clean documentation
• Fluent English and Spanish

• Speak German
