The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama is seeking a Maintenance Technician to ensure the flawless operation of its luxury facilities. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance across guest rooms and public spaces, diagnose issues, and coordinate with contractors when needed.

The role requires hands-on skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to high standards. Ideal candidates have at least one year in technical maintenance or hotel engineering, knowledge of electrical/HVAC systems,

  • At least 1 year in technical maintenance, facilities management, hotel engineering, or related field.
  • Basic or advanced knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools and maintenance equipment.

As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the proper operation of the resort's facilities, guaranteeing that all spaces, equipment, and systems function safely, efficiently, and in accordance with The Ritz-Carlton's highest quality standards.

Your Responsibilities Will Include...
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks across the resort's facilities, guest rooms, public areas, and equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections of systems and installations to ensure proper functionality and identify potential issues.
  • Respond to and resolve maintenance requests, technical issues, and repair needs efficiently and within established timelines.
  • Carry out basic repairs related to electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, painting, air conditioning, and general maintenance.
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with company health, safety, and environmental procedures and regulations.
  • Accurately document completed maintenance activities and report incidents to the appropriate supervisors.
  • Maintain tools, materials, equipment, and work areas in clean, organized, and safe working conditions.
  • Collaborate with external contractors and vendors during specialized maintenance work and projects.
  • Support the setup and preparation of spaces for events, special activities, and operational requirements throughout the resort.
  • Identify opportunities for facility improvements and recommend actions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of lighting, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and other essential services.
  • Respond professionally to guest requests related to technical issues in guest rooms or hotel facilities.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, accidents, or potential hazards identified during daily operations.
  • Maintain positive working relationships and collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
  • Protect the confidentiality of guest and company information at all times.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors or management.
What We Are Looking For...
  • High School Diploma, Vocational Training Certificate, or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience of at least one year in technical maintenance, facilities management, hotel engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic or advanced knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance.
  • Ability to diagnose technical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize tasks within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple departments.
  • Proactive, responsible, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to established procedures.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays, depending on operational needs.
  • Basic computer skills for logging and tracking maintenance activities and work orders.
  • Proficiency in Spanish; English language skills will be considered an advantage.
  • Valid work permit for Spain.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Vocational training or certification in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, HVAC Systems, or related fields.
  • Previous experience in luxury hotels, resorts, or upscale hospitality environments.
  • Certifications related to electrical systems, HVAC, legionella prevention, or occupational health and safety.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Experience working with service and quality standards in five-star hotels or international luxury hospitality brands.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices, energy efficiency, and environmentally responsible maintenance procedures within hospitality operations.
