Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a High Speed Systems Engineer Lead to drive design, development, and integration of advanced high-speed electronic systems for satellite and telecom platforms. You will lead architecture decisions and mentor hardware teams.

The role requires hands-on lab work with oscilloscopes, VNAs, and SI/PI simulations, coordinating across FPGA, RF, embedded software, mechanical, and systems engineering teams, and supporting manufacturing and qualification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• 8+ years in high-speed hardware and systems engineering.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of SI/PI and transmission line theory.
• Experience with PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, and SerDes.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of high-speed multilayer PCBs with controlled impedance.
• Define system architecture for high-speed digital and mixed-signal platforms.
• Lead development of high-speed interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, SerDes).
• Drive SI/PI and RF design reviews.
• Oversee schematic capture, layout, and stack-up definitions.
• Supervise SI/PI/RF simulations and hardware validation.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to hardware teams.
• Coordinate with FPGA, RF, embedded software, mechanical, and systems teams.
• Support manufacturing and product qualification activities.
• Drive continuous improvement across hardware development workflows.
