Job summary

DICE is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to shape scalable Elixir-based services that power fans, venues and artists. You’ll drive architectural decisions, work with GraphQL/REST, and own production outcomes as part of a globally distributed team.

The role emphasizes leadership, performance, and robust, maintainable systems. Based in Europe with a strong remote-friendly policy, you’ll collaborate across functional teams to improve workflows and code quality while delivering high-impact features

Qualifications

Extensive production experience with Elixir, OTP and Phoenix.
Strong track record designing and developing distributed systems at scale.
Experience integrating third-party services and handling failure scenarios.
Deep understanding of PostgreSQL/Redis and query performance.
Mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions.

Responsibilities

Architecting and developing complex, high-load backend systems written in Elixir.
Leading technical discussions with Product Managers, Engineers and Designers.
Mentoring mid-level and junior engineers; code reviews and best-practices championing.
Identify bottlenecks in ticketing/event systems and design scalable solutions.
Contribute to testing, documentation, and maintainability across the team.
