Job summary

Qualifyze is seeking a Backend Engineering Lead to own the backend ecosystem, align with product goals, and elevate architecture and delivery quality. You will lead backend engineers, shape standards, and drive cross-team initiatives while partnering with the Head of Engineering.

The role emphasizes hands-on guidance, architecture definition, and mentoring senior engineers to scale the backend across the organization. Hybrid work available in Europe.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Java stack (SpringBoot, Liquibase, etc.).
• Proven experience leading backend initiatives across multiple teams.
• Experience defining architecture and driving adoption at scale.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical direction.
• Solid understanding of Java and Postgres performance, database modeling and risk analysis.
• Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Backend Ownership & Strategy: Define and drive backend vision across teams and standards.
• Team Leadership & Capability Building: Lead and support backend engineers, drive growth.
• Delivery & Quality Accountability: Ensure backend delivery is predictable, scalable and high quality.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Align backend work with frontend/data/platform constraints.
• Hands-on Technical Leadership: Stay close to the codebase and guide best practices.
