Job summary

AST SpaceMobile seeks a hands-on Junior Mechanical Engineer to design jigs and tooling for satellite manufacturing. You will create fixtures, workholding devices, and test tooling, supporting assembly and testing with suppliers and cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes independent work, problem solving, and precise engineering documentation using Autodesk tools and PLM/PDM systems. A strong propulsion toward hands-on fabrication and 3D printing is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor- or master-level mechanical engineering education is required or preferred.
• Hands-on experience in jig, fixture, or tooling design is essential.
• Experience with space subsystem or payload applications is advantageous.
• Proficiency with CAD tools and documentation in PDM/PLM environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical support elements (jigs, fixtures, workholding, handling, test tooling) from concept to CAD drawings.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation within PDM/PLM systems.
• Perform workshop activities including basic manual tasks and 3D printing.
• Support assembly and integration of mechanical assemblies.
• Coordinate with suppliers for machining services and procurement of components.
• Collaborate with AIT technicians and vendors to support manufacturing/testing.
