Hitachi Energy in Madrid, Spain is seeking an IT/OT System Engineer to join our Operations Center of Excellence. You will contribute to deploying and securing HVDC control systems and integrate features aligned with customer requirements, serving as a key resource in MACH platform deployments for large HVDC projects.

The ideal candidate brings experience in HMI/SCADA, automation design, and cybersecurity, with strong English, and a collaborative mindset to share knowledge across a global team.

Formación

• Degree in a relevant technical field (CS, Automation)
• Experience in HMI design and testing with Aveva or Micro SCADA
• Experience in SCADA and automation design/testing incl. IEC standards
• Experience with databases, high-availability, and network gear (firewalls, switches)
• Good English verbal/written communication; client-facing
• Experience with Windows OS and Active Directory is a plus

Are you ready to shape the future of energy? At Hitachi Energy, we are establishing and developing an Operation Center of Excellence in Madrid, Spain (ESOPC) within the Grid & Power Quality Solutions business in Europe (HBUEU).

We are looking for IT/OT System Engineer to join Hitachi Energy in Spain! You will be part of a global team of talented engineers tasked with deploying and securing the next generation of control systems within HVDC. You will be responsible for integrating and implementing features aligning with customer- and market requirements. In this position you will serve as a key resource in the assigned area contributing to deployments of the MACH control platform in large HVDC project deliveries at Hitachi Energy.

How you’ll make an impact

• Be part of a IT/OT System team for system, network, and cybersecurity design and implementations in HVDC projects, focus OT - HMI, SCADA, automation part.
• Building complete infrastructure of networks and systems to support operations and ensuring systems and networks contain defined levels of cybersecurity.
• Upon level of experience, mentoring junior associates and driving knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Upon level of experience, actively contributing to identifying and capturing opportunities for improvement.

Your background

• A university degree within a relevant technical area, preferably Computer science, Automation or other relevant education or experience.
• Experience in HMI (human machine interface) design and testing, Aveva platform, Micro Scada or similar.
• Experience in SCADA, automation design and testing, IEC101, IEC104, IEC61850 or similar along with scripting languages and automation technologies.
• Experience with databases and high-availability solutions, as well as network equipment as firewalls, switches, GPS clocks and redundant network designs and protocols.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, fluent in English and comfortable in customer discussions.
• Experience with Microsoft client- and server operating systems, AD and any security relevant systems is meritorious.
