N26 is seeking a Mid-level iOS Engineer to drive the evolution of our payment features within the Payments segment as part of the Localities team. This hybrid role is based in Barcelona or Berlin offices, with local European market focus including Spain.

You will collaborate with Product, Design and Backend teams to take features from concept to production, ensure performance and security, and contribute to core libraries and code quality across the mobile stack.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Mid-level iOS Engineer to drive the evolution of our payment features within the Payments segment as part of the Localites team. The Payments Team does the heavy lifting behind money movement—powering seamless transactions across regional and global networks. In the Localities team, you will focus on products tailored to local European markets (such as local payment integrations in the Netherlands, Spain, and beyond). A primary focus of this role will be driving our integration with Wero, building high-performance mobile payment experiences for both individual users and e-commerce checkouts. We believe in building high-performance, rock-solid mobile experiences that make sending and receiving money feel effortless and secure. This is a unique opportunity to own a critical domain of a banking app used by millions, where your code directly impacts how users manage their daily financial lives. This is a hybrid role from one of our Barcelona or Berlin offices.

In this role, you will:

• Develop and scale core payment features within the N26 iOS app using modern Swift.
• Write clean, testable, and highly maintainable code, following modular architecture principles and modern iOS design patterns.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers, Product Designers, and Backend Engineers to take features from inception to production.
• Drive engineering excellence across the mobile community through active code reviews, tech talks, and contributions to shared core libraries.
• Ensure app performance, security, and reliability, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks in critical payment pathways.

Background & Experience

Proven professional iOS development experience, ideally within consumer-facing, security-sensitive applications at a fast-paced product company or fintech disruptor. Formal background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical, hands-on experience.

Skills & Mindset

Strong Swift & iOS SDK expertise, with a deep understanding of core concepts like concurrency, memory management, and local data persistence. Architectural awareness: Experience working with modern architecture patterns (MVVM, VIPER, or Modular Architecture) in large-scale codebases.

Quality-first mindset: Hands-on experience writing robust unit and integration tests for critical app workflows.

Collaborative attitude: Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset that thrives in an agile, cross-functional environment.
