Job summary

SmartRecruiters, Inc. is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage Spain and Portugal payrolls and support the Iberia payroll team. You will ensure accurate processing, adhere to local regulations and maintain strong data quality across the payroll system.

The role requires 2+ years in payroll, strong Excel skills, and excellent communication in English. You will work under deadlines within a collaborative finance team in Madrid.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years in a similar payroll role.
• Upper-intermediate to high English.
• Microsoft Excel knowledge at Intermediate level or above.
• Ability to work under pressure and commit to tight deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both written and spoken.
• Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a wider team, whilst managing workloads and remaining flexible.
• Strong analytical ability.
• Organizational and time management skills in managing multiple, diverse and sometimes conflicting priorities.
• Ability to make decisions in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and timely processing of Spain and Portugal payrolls.
• Support senior payroll team and data uploads to payroll system.
• Deliver high standards of accuracy and compliance with legislation and agreements.
• Perform payroll checking, reporting, and variance analysis.
• Assist with year-end duties and payroll audits.
• Produce and modify payroll reports for management and finance.
• Coordinate with regulatory bodies as required for research and compliance.
• Continuously improve payroll processes and systems.
