Mapal is an international B2B SaaS scale-up based in Madrid, seeking a Tech Lead to guide technical direction while staying close to code. You will translate customer needs into reliable, secure software and mentor engineers across teams and countries.

The role blends hands-on development with leadership, encouraging pragmatic decisions, robust testing, and scalable architecture to support our hospitality clients and partners worldwide.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Tech Lead or senior engineer taking ownership of technical decisions.
• Built and maintained production software in a B2B SaaS or enterprise setting.
• Hands-on with core tech stack and ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, API design and data modelling.
• Experience with cloud environments, CI/CD, automated testing and monitoring.
• Focus on security, performance and reliability throughout development.
• Mentor engineers and provide clear feedback.
• Translate complex requirements into practical technical plans with customers in mind.
• Clear communication with product and stakeholders about priorities, risks and constraints.
• Pragmatic approach to technical debt balancing customer needs with sustainable engineering.
• English communication across teams and countries.

Responsabilités

• Guide technical decisions within your team while balancing customer needs and long-term platform health.
• Stay hands-on with development and review code for complex features.
• Clarify requirements with Product and Engineering, break work into manageable pieces.
• Create reliable, secure, maintainable software through design, testing and good development practices.
• Coach engineers through feedback, pairing and knowledge sharing.
• Support realistic planning and communicate risks and progress clearly.
• Improve CI/CD, testing, observability and release practices.
• Investigate production issues and address root causes to improve reliability.
• Manage technical debt with space for improvements alongside delivery.
• Collaborate with other technical teams and promote tooling, automation and AI.
