Job summary

Airbus UpNext is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to help shape the HV test bench for aircraft electrification initiatives. You will lead specification, integration and validation of high voltage hardware up to 1250VDC, 1MW, reporting to the Technical Director in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.

Qualifications

• 5 to 10 years hands-on experience in high-power electrical engineering.
• Masters or Bachelors in Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
• Deep knowledge of 1MW class equipment and HV systems.
• Experience steering suppliers, drafting specifications and evaluating proposals.
• Multidisciplinary exposure to related domains is a plus.
• Fluent English; Spanish is a plus.
• Pragmatic, autonomous, safety-conscious in agile, fast-paced env.
• Willingness to have fun.

Responsibilities

• Test Bench Industrial Equipment Specification: design HV bench hardware including AC/DC power supplies, dynamic load banks, switching matrices, energy storage systems, arc-flash creation and short-circuit injection systems.
• Instrumentation & DAQ: design high-bandwidth, isolated DAQ hardware, sensors, and conditioning modules for high EMI environments with HV measurements.
• Supplier Technical Steering: draft Purchaser Technical Specifications, evaluate proposals, drive trade-offs and follow up supplier milestones.
• Integration & Validation: installation, verification, commissioning and functional validation of industrial power equipment and System Under Test interfaces.
• Electrical Safety & Operations: support risk analysis and define operational procedures ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• R&T Prototype Evolution Support: assist electrical evolution of HV batteries, power converters and distribution systems.
