Job summary

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) is offering a full-time position for an HPC Support Engineer in the Operations Department, based in Barcelona. You will work with Linux systems, assist RES users, and help optimize applications for better resource usage.

We value collaboration, strong communication, and a proactive mindset as you contribute to monitoring performance, developing automation, and supporting the day-to-day operations of one of Europe’s leading HPC facilities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• Minimum 1 year in an HPC center handling incidents and user requests.
• Experience with Linux systems.
• Experience in parallel programming models (MPI, OpenMP, threading) is an advantage.
• Good level of English.
• Experience in MySQL, Python and Bash scripting.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Resolve incidents that RES users may have during their executions and assist with applications to optimize resource use.
• Support user and applications consultant groups with performance monitoring and parallel optimization.
• Develop new solutions to improve user experience of HPC resources.
• Create solutions to automate incident resolution and requests.
