Applus+ IDIADA in Catalonia, Spain, seeks an Optical Engineer for the Homologation Passenger Car Department to oversee lighting component approvals and global homologation activities, ensuring compliance with international regulations.

You will conduct automotive lighting tests, prepare technical reports, verify documentation, and contribute to international standards while collaborating within a multilingual, hybrid-work team. Fluency in Spanish and English is required.

Formación

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optics, Physics, Electronics, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of optical testing standards.
• Proficiency in English; Spanish highly desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Global homologation of lighting components and compliance with regulations (ECE/FMVSS/others).
• Automotive lighting and light-signalling laboratory testing.
• Vehicle approval testing for lighting and indirect vision systems.
• Producing technical reports on test results and verifications.
• Verifying documentation for approvals and contributing to standards development.

Job Description

We are looking for an Optical Engineer to join our Homologation Passenger Car Department. As part of the homologation team, you will be responsible for the approval of different projects regarding homologation of components (lighting).

Some of the main activities of this role include:

• Global homologation of ligthing and light-signalling devices: ECE Regulations, FMVSS108/CMVSS108 (USA/Canada), AIS (INDIA), Taiwan, CCC China, Korea.
• Automotive Lighting and light-signalling laboratory testing.
• Vehicle approval testing for lighting and light-signalling and indirect vision systems.
• Performing technical reports.
• Verifying technical and administrative documentation for approvals.
• Study and development of International Standards.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optics, Physics, Electronics, or similar.

Languages:

High level of Spanish and English.

Knowledge of other languages is a plus.
