Spendesk is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead a multi-country group of 20-30 engineers. You will shape technical and organisational strategy, build a leadership team of EMs and Staff Engineers, and own the economics, reliability, and delivery pace across our fintech platform used by thousands of finance teams in Europe.

Based in Barcelona (or Paris/London by arrangement), you will collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and customer-facing teams, champion observability, and drive the

• 8+ years in software engineering with increasing scope.
• 2
• 3+ years managing managers (Team Leads/EMs).
• Track record delivering complex, multi-stakeholder SaaS programs.
• Hands-on experience operating distributed systems at scale.
• Comfort with TypeScript, Node, React, AWS.
• Strong business acumen: ROI and trade-offs.
• Proven ability to grow managers into leaders.

Responsabilidades

• Define multi-quarter technical and organisational strategy for your group.
• Drive architecture and platformisation with clear domain boundaries.
• Own AI/tooling strategy, standardisation, and impact measurement.
• Sequence hiring and headcount with data to maximise impact.
• Be accountable for delivery and outcomes across the full portfolio.
• Establish group KPIs, SLOs, and operating rhythms.
• Represent Engineering in cross-functional forums and leadership meetings.
