Job description

Global Marketing Intern

Madrid, Spain

At AXA XL, we build and protect our market profile and brand through an integrated global marketing programme, aligned with our Chief Client Office and regional business priorities. The Global Marketing Intern will join the team in a junior, developmental capacity, gaining practical experience of how marketing supports client and broker engagement, business growth and brand visibility across an international organisation.

Working alongside the Global Marketing Director and the wider global marketing team, you will learn how campaigns, events, sponsorships and marketing materials are planned, coordinated and delivered. You will also gain exposure to the Chief Client Office and collaborate with colleagues across regional marketing, Brand, Communications, Digital, Distribution and business teams.

This internship is designed for a current university student who is keen to develop a career in marketing. You will receive guidance from experienced colleagues, build practical workplace skills and contribute to live projects, while developing an understanding of B2B marketing in a global insurance business.

What you'll be doing

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Supporting the coordination of global marketing campaigns and activities for priority business and client and broker initiatives.
  • Helping prepare and update marketing materials, including presentations and propositions, campaign toolkits, event materials, web copy and internal updates.
  • Assisting with global events, sponsorships and client and broker engagement programmes, including research, invitations, attendee information, briefing materials, logistics, evaluation/follow-up activity and event execution.
  • Working with the wider global marketing team and Chief Client Office colleagues to gather information, coordinate inputs and keep agreed actions moving.
  • Supporting regional marketing teams by organising and sharing approved global assets, messages and campaign resources.
  • Helping with digital marketing activity across email, webinars, websites and account-based marketing, under the direction of experienced team members.
  • Assisting with content research, proofreading and copy drafting for marketing materials and communications.
  • Supporting campaign and event reporting by collating engagement information, maintaining trackers and helping prepare clear reporting summaries.
  • Helping keep marketing activity and actions recorded accurately in relevant systems, including CRM, with training and guidance provided.
  • Liaising with internal teams and external agencies to help gather information and monitor deliverables and deadlines.
  • Taking part in team meetings, learning sessions and project reviews to build an understanding of global marketing and the wider business.
  • Bringing fresh ideas and curiosity to campaigns, content and team discussions.

You will report to the Global Marketing Director.

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

  • Current enrolment in a university degree programme. Marketing, communications, business or a related subject may be helpful, but is not essential.
  • A genuine interest in marketing, communications, events, sponsorships and how organisations engage clients and partners.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with good attention to detail.
  • Good organisation skills and a willingness to manage several straightforward tasks with guidance.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook, and a willingness to learn.
  • A collaborative and positive approach, with the confidence to ask questions and learn from colleagues across different teams and countries.
  • Curiosity, reliability and a proactive attitude to supporting the team.
  • An interest in using data and digital tools to understand how marketing activity performs.
  • Any experience gained through university projects, societies, volunteering, part-time work or previous internships is welcome
  • No previous insurance or financial services experience is required.

Sustainability

At AXA XL, Sustainability is integral to our business strategy. In an ever-changing world, AXA XL protects what matters most for our clients and communities. We know that sustainability is at the root of a more resilient future. Our 2023-26 Sustainability strategy, called "Roots of resilience", focuses on protecting natural ecosystems, addressing climate change, and embedding sustainable practices across our operations.

Our Pillars:

  • Valuing nature: How we impact nature affects how nature impacts us. Resilient ecosystems - the foundation of a sustainable planet and society - are essential to our future. We're committed to protecting and restoring nature - from mangrove forests to the bees in our backyard - by increasing biodiversity awareness and inspiring clients and colleagues to put nature at the heart of their plans.
  • Addressing climate change: The effects of a changing climate are far-reaching and significant. Unpredictable weather, increasing temperatures, and rising sea levels cause both social inequalities and environmental disruption. We're building a net zero strategy, developing insurance products and services, and mobilizing to advance thought leadership and investment in societal-led solutions.
  • Integrating ESG: All companies have a role to play in building a more resilient future. Incorporating ESG considerations into our internal processes and practices builds resilience from the roots of our business. We're training our colleagues, engaging our external partners, and evolving our sustainability governance and reporting.
  • AXA Hearts in Action: We have established volunteering and charitable giving programs to help colleagues support causes that matter most to them, known as AXA XL's "Hearts in Action" programs. These include our Matching Gifts program, Volunteering Leave, and our annual volunteering day - the Global Day of Giving.
