IAG Engine Tech in Madrid seeks a Gate Manager to lead the Engine Shop gate, directing multidisciplinary foremen and mechanics to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality maintenance and assembly.

You will drive Lean Manufacturing, align manpower and tools with priorities, monitor TAT and OTD, and partner with Planning, Materials, Engineering and Quality to meet airworthiness and customer requirements while promoting safety and continuous improvement.

Formación

  • Aeronautical, industrial or mechanical engineering qualification (technical studies).
  • Minimum 3 years in aeronautical maintenance.
  • Experience leading production or operational teams in MRO/industrial settings.
  • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead and manage resources assigned to the production gate.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and risk prevention.
  • Ensure airworthiness, quality standards and procedures are followed.
  • Achieve KPIs including TAT, OTD, efficiency and productivity targets.
  • Supervise Foremen and coordinate mechanic teams.
  • Monitor workflow sequencing, manpower allocation and priorities.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
  • Support industrialization, standardization and ramp-up initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Materials, Engineering and Quality.
  • Escalate and resolve technical or resource constraints.
  • Foster team development and Lean culture across the gate.

  • The Gate Manager is responsible for leading and managing the operational performance of the assigned production gate within the Engine Shop production flow. The role oversees multidisciplinary production teams through a hierarchical structure composed of Foremen and teams of mechanics, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality execution of all maintenance and assembly activities within the assigned gate.

  • The position is accountable for achieving operational objectives related to Turn Around Time (TAT), productivity, On Time Delivery (OTD), quality compliance and people safety, while driving Lean Manufacturing culture, continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence across the complete production flow.

  • The Gate Manager ensures alignment between manpower, materials, tooling, processes and operational priorities to guarantee smooth workflow execution and compliance with airworthiness, OEM and customer requirements.


Key responsabilities


  • Lead and manage the human and material resources assigned to the production gate.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, human factors standards and occupational risk prevention requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with airworthiness requirements, quality standards and approved maintenance procedures.

  • Ensure achievement of operational KPIs including TAT, efficiency, OTD and productivity targets.

  • Supervise and coordinate Foremen, ensuring effective management of mechanic teams and daily operational execution.

  • Monitor and optimize workflow sequencing, manpower allocation and production priorities.

  • Identify operational bottlenecks, process inefficiencies and improvement opportunities, implementing corrective and preventive actions.

  • Support industrialization, process standardization and operational ramp-up initiatives.

  • Coordinate cross-functional activities with Planning, Materials, Engineering, Quality and other production gates.

  • Ensure proper escalation and resolution of technical, operational and resource constraints affecting production flow.

  • Foster team development, engagement and performance through coaching and leadership of Foremen.

  • Promote and consolidate Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement culture across the gate


Objectives


  • Ensure continuous production flow and gate performance to achieve Engine Shop TAT and OTD targets.

  • Lead and coordinate all operational activities within the assigned production gate (e.g. Induction & Disassembly, Verification, Marshalling, Modular Assembly, Final Engine Assembly, etc.).

  • Ensure compliance with all airworthiness regulations, OEM standards, customer requirements and internal procedures.

  • Develop and manage Foremen and operational teams, promoting accountability, technical excellence and teamwork.

  • Balance operational efficiency, safety, quality and workforce engagement in a high-demand aeronautical maintenance environment.

  • Support operational ramp-up strategies and capacity growth while maintaining productivity and process stability.

  • Drive Lean Manufacturing implementation and continuous process optimization within the production environment.


Education, skills and experience

Minimum academic cualifications:



  • Aeronautical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering Technical studies.


Technical skills:


  • Operational excellence orientation

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage change and industrial transformation


Experience:


  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the aeronautical maintenance industry.

  • Experience managing operational or production teams in an MRO or industrial environment is desirable.

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement is valued.
