Job summary

Honda Bank GmbH is seeking a Financial Accounting Specialist for its Barcelona or Frankfurt team on a temporary basis. The role focuses on managing accounting activities across GAAP/IFRS, tax advisory support, and developing accounting processes for multiple business lines in an international setting.

The candidate should have a university degree in business/finance, strong accounting knowledge, and English and German fluency; Spanish is desirable.

Qualifications

• University degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field.
• Experience in Accounting, ideally within banking/financial services.
• Solid knowledge of accounting, financial reporting and tax legislation.
• Good knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel.
• Fluent in English and German; Spanish desirable.
• SAP knowledge is a plus.
• Experience in financing and leasing is desirable.
• Knowledge of Hyperion Financial Reporting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor ongoing accounting activities in accordance with local GAAP and IFRS; contribute to improving accounting processes across AP, AR, Fixed Assets, GL and bank accounting.
• Advise on and support resolution of complex tax matters with external tax advisors; contribute to tax strategy preparation and optimisation.
• Prepare and review tax returns and support implementation of tax optimisation measures.
• Develop accounting processes across business areas (retail, wholesale, leasing, deposits, cooperation markets) and ensure new accounting standards and technologies are implemented.
• Monitor and control the end-to-end invoicing process for accuracy and efficiency.
• Support bank-wide project controlling and contribute to finance-related projects.
• Analyze, review and continuously improve internal processes to increase efficiency and reduce risks.
• Lead and participate in cross-functional projects to optimise Finance and Accounting processes and support strategic objectives.

We are now looking for a Financial Accounting Specialist to join our Finance team in Barcelona or Frankfurt on a temporary basis.

Tasks

Your responsibilities

• Manage and monitor ongoing accounting activities in accordance with local GAAP and IFRS, contributing to the development and optimisation of accounting processes across areas such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, General Ledger and bank accounting.
• Advise on and support the resolution of complex tax matters in close cooperation with external tax advisors, while contributing to the preparation and optimisation of the tax strategy.
• Prepare and review tax returns and support the implementation of tax optimisation measures.
• Manage and further develop accounting processes across different business areas, including retail, wholesale, leasing, deposits and cooperation markets, ensuring the implementation of new accounting standards and technologies.
• Monitor and control the end-to-end invoicing process, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

What we're looking for

• University degree or equivalent higher education qualification in Business Administration, Finance or a related field.
• Previous professional experience in Accounting, ideally within the banking or financial services sector.
• Solid knowledge of accounting, financial reporting and tax legislation.
• Good knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel.
• Good written and spoken English and German, Spanish desirable.
• SAP knowledge is a plus.
• Experience in financing and leasing is desirable.
• Knowledge of Hyperion Financial Reporting is desirable.
