Job summary

Sincrotrón ALBA in Catalonia, Spain, seeks a highly qualified engineer to perform FEA/CFD analyses for scientific equipment and accelerator beamlines. You will meshing, simulate thermal and thermo‑mechanical behavior, and develop CAD models for cooling systems and absorber components.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related fields, strong FEM/CFD experience, and programming skills (Python/MATLAB).

Qualifications

Master's degree in Industrial Engineering with a specialization in mechanics, fluid mechanics, fluid dynamics, or equivalent.
Master's degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, and/or Physics, or an equivalent Master’s degree.

Responsibilities

Carry out finite element analysis (FEA) calculations and simulations for scientific equipment and instrumentation projects for engineering groups and other divisions.
Perform meshing, calculation, and post-processing of highly complex scientific equipment and instrumentation assemblies.
Conduct thermal and thermo‑mechanical calculations, as well as power balances, for optical elements and synchrotron absorber components, accelerators, and beamlines.
Perform advanced CFD calculations.
Design or supervise mechanical systems and cooling circuits, creating 3D models, detailed models, and 2D drawings using CAD tools.
Design and characterize deionised water cooling subsystems for the synchrotron and related facilities.
Negotiate, write, and prepare technical specifications for public tenders for equipment, facilities, goods, and services.
Develop and monitor project plans (including Gantt charts) and manage the project budget.
Manage and track project procurement and construction of facilities.
Maintain and update engineering drawing documentation.
Operate and maintain cooling equipment, facilities, and subsystems.
Support other groups in operation and maintenance and troubleshoot incidents in beamlines and accelerators.
