Job summary

ERNI, an International Service Delivery Center in Spain, seeks an Embedded Firmware Architect to develop and enhance firmware for readouts and instruments. You will work with electronics and other engineers to translate product requirements into hardware‑aware software on bare‑metal ARM Cortex‑M MCUs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Software/Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Strong C skills with practical experience in C++.
• Experience with microcontrollers and bare-metal firmware.
• Ability to investigate hardware–software issues using a debugger, schematics and measurement equipment.
• Disciplined approach to testing, code review and version control.
• German & English skills to discuss technical problems with international colleagues.
• Experience with ARM Cortex-M family is especially relevant.

Responsibilities

• Develop firmware for sensor interfaces, instrument functions and communication with connected systems.
• Bringing up and debugging hardware with electronics engineers, using schematics, datasheets and lab measurements.
• Extending existing firmware and implementing new functionality.
• Building tests that verify changes and reproduce faults.
• Investigating issues found during development, production or use in the field.
• Interfaces include STM32-class MCUs and protocols such as SPI, I²C, UART, CAN and Modbus.
