AIG is seeking a Commercial Property Underwriter in Madrid to contribute to the strategic development of our multinational property portfolio and manage broker relationships across the AIG network.

You will work cross-functionally with teams across AIG to uphold underwriting guidelines, train junior staff, and identify client-focused products and cross-selling opportunities, while maintaining strong broker and client relationships.

Formación

• Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Experience in property underwriting with strong technical insurance knowledge, international focus.
• Multinational experience and knowledge of local markets/regulations advantageous.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication, including presentations to stakeholders.
• Proven ability to build relationships with brokers and clients.
• Understanding of legal/regulatory requirements.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.

About the role

What you need to know:

• Contribute to the strategic development of our Multinational portfolio;


• Develop and lead broker relationships establishing accretive pipelines, and for cross selling opportunities across the AIG network.


• Work cross functionally with other areas in AIG to achieve corporate objectives.


• Work within agreed decision-making standards, limitations, authorities and underwriting guidelines.


• Working collaboratively in a team environment including development and training of junior staff


• Achieve satisfactory ratings on all underwriting quality reviews.


• Ensure all corporate service standards are maintained to both brokers & internal colleagues.


• Ability to prioritize workload and to use own initiative for both internal and external issues.


• Maintain and develop strong broker and client relationships.


• Support the culture of continuous improvement in all areas including improving processes to make the business more efficient and creating an environment where people are encouraged to take initiative and responsibility.


• Identify and develop client focused products and strategies.


• Reinsurance capabilities and solutions driven

What we’re looking for:

• Education preferred: Engineering Degree or equivalent.


• Experience in property underwriting experience and strong technical insurance knowledge, with particular focus on the international market. Terrorism underwriting experience is an advantage.


• Multinational experience and knowledge of local markets/regulations advantageous.


• Excellent interpersonal, written communication skills including delivery of presentations to all levels of stakeholders, including claims and distribution (both broker and client engagement).


• Proven ability to build relationships with brokers and clients.


• An appreciation and understanding of legal/regulatory requirements


• Good organizational skills with proven ability to prioritize workload.


• Proven ability to lead client and broker negotiations.


• Highly numerate.


• Competent in IT packages.


• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
