Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company in Madrid seeks a Chief Engineer, Digital Design to lead the digital engineering transformation across engineering, procurement, construction, and project delivery.

You will shape the long-term vision, governance, and roadmap for engineering information, AI-enabled platforms, and automation, reporting to the SVP, APX Fleet Deployment, with a hybrid work model in Spain.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering, CS, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years leading enterprise-scale transformation in engineering or digital domains.
• 3+ years in engineering processes, information management, architecture, integration, and digital delivery.
• Ability to influence senior leadership and drive change in large organisations.

Responsibilities

• Define and promote the enterprise strategy for digital engineering and AI-enabled project delivery.
• Lead cross-functional teams and align digital transformation with business objectives.

About The Role

As a Chief Engineer, Digital Design you will serve as the enterprise authority, technical visionary and strategic leader responsible for advancing the organization's digital engineering capabilities and transforming the delivery of engineering, procurement, construction, and project execution.

You will drive the evolution from traditional document-centric workflows toward an integrated, data-centric, and AI-enabled operating model that improves business performance, project outcomes, quality, and execution efficiency. As the principal authority for digital engineering strategy, establishes the long-term vision, roadmap, and governance framework for engineering information, digital platforms, process automation, and emerging technologies.

You will align business objectives, engineering processes, technology investments, and industry innovation to create a connected digital ecosystem that serves as the foundation for future project delivery.

You will report to the SVP, APX Fleet Deployment and be located at Madrid.

Main Responsibilities

Strategy, Transformation, & Organizational Leadership:

Define and promote the enterprise strategy for digital engineering, information management, automation, and AI-enabled project delivery.

• Align digital transformation initiatives with business objectives, project delivery priorities, and long-term organizational goals.
• Develop the organization's digital engineering talent strategy, including workforce capability planning, competency development, succession planning, and leadership development.
• Be the trusted advisor to executive leadership on technology strategy, digital innovation, industry trends, and transformational investment decisions.
• Lead, mentor, and influence multidisciplinary teams of engineers, architects, software developers, and technical specialists.
• Promote the organization's leadership in engineering innovation, digital transformation, and next-generation project delivery practices.
• Improve organizational adoption and change management for new digital engineering capabilities.
• Foster a culture of innovation that encourages the practical application of new technologies to solve business and engineering challenges.

Digital Engineering Leadership & Technical Architecture:

• Establish the vision and architecture for an integrated digital engineering ecosystem that enables seamless information flow across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and lifecycle management.
• Ensure engineering data platforms serve as source of information and provide a consistent digital thread throughout project execution.
• Drive integration between internal applications, commercial engineering tools, enterprise systems, and external partner environments to eliminate information silos and enable efficient collaboration.
• Provide technical leadership for modern information management practices, digital delivery methodologies, and model-based engineering approaches.
• Identify and advance opportunities to leverage automation, artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and emerging technologies to improve engineering productivity and project performance.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and establish strategic adoption pathways that maximize business value while managing technical and organizational risk.
• Provide technical oversight and strategic direction for complex digital initiatives and enterprise transformation programs.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5 years of experience leading enterprise-scale transformation as it relates to engineering, digital transformation, technology strategy, or complex systems integration initiatives.
• 3 years of experience with engineering processes, information management, software architecture, systems integration, and digital delivery methodologies.
• Experience influencing senior leadership and driving change across complex organizations.
