Job summary

Applus+ Laboratories is expanding its Materials and Mechanics team in Spain and seeks a Business Development Manager. You will manage strategic accounts across automotive, aerospace, railway, and energy sectors, driving testing, validation, and certification projects.

In this role you will craft proposals, lead the full sales cycle, and work with engineering teams to tailor solutions. A strong English/Spanish background and relevant technical sales experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or higher in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Industrial Engineering.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience in technical sales or business development in regulated industrial or laboratory environments.
• Experience with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and regulated industries is preferred.
• Fluency in English and Spanish (B2 or higher) is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop strategic customer accounts across Automotive, Aerospace, Railway, Renewable Energy, and Industrial sectors.
• Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities related to testing, validation, and certification services.
• Prepare and deliver technical-commercial proposals aligned with OEM requirements and international standards.
• Lead the full consultative sales cycle from opportunity identification to contract award.
• Collaborate with engineering and laboratory teams to define testing scopes and deliver tailored technical solutions.
• Manage relationships and commercial performance through pipeline management, forecasting, KPI monitoring and industry representation.

We are Applus+ Laboratories, the division of the Applus+ Group that provides testing, certification, and product development engineering services.

Within the Materials and Mechanics area, we assess the properties of a wide range of materials, components, and structures for industries such as aerospace, automotive, railway, and wind energy, among others.

Our experts support clients in the development of their products and in ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

We are currently expanding and are looking for a Business Development Manager to join our team on a permanent basis.

What will your day-to-day look like?

• Manage and develop strategic customer accounts across the Automotive, Aerospace, Railway, Renewable Energy, and Industrial sectors.
• Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities related to testing, validation, and certification services.
• Prepare and deliver technical-commercial proposals aligned with OEM requirements and international standards.
• Lead the full consultative sales cycle, from opportunity identification and qualification through contract negotiation and project award.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and laboratory teams to define testing scopes and deliver tailored technical solutions.
• Manage customer relationships and commercial performance through pipeline management, forecasting, KPI monitoring, and representation of the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking activities.

What are we looking for?

• Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
• 3+ years of experience in technical sales, business development, or application engineering within industrial or laboratory environments
• Experience working with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and highly regulated industries
• Solid understanding of materials testing, validation processes, certification schemes, or industrial qualification programs
• Fluent in English (at least B2) and Spanish
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
