Job summary

Jumby Bay Island, part of Oetker Hotels, is seeking a bartender to oversee bar operations on a private Caribbean island. You will plan, prepare and set up the bar, maintaining in-depth knowledge of cocktails and providing exceptional guest service.

The role requires 1–3 years in a similar luxury-hospitality setting, knowledge of spirits, and flexibility to work varied hours. A Driver's License and Food Handlers Certificate for Antigua & Barbuda are required.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in a similar role.
• Luxury resort/hotel experience preferred.
• Knowledge of rums and spirits; casual to advanced knowledge a plus.
• Micros knowledge is an asset.
• Excellent listening, verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift bottles.
• Flexible hours.
• Valid Antigua & Barbuda Driver's License and Food Handlers Certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and set up the bar and back-of-house areas.
• Maintain complete knowledge of cocktails, mocktails, specials, etc.
• Provide exceptional guest service and respond to guest needs.
• Stock, organize and manage bar storeroom and inventory.
• Support front and back of house during service.

Mission

The Bartender is responsible for the planning, preparation and set-up, pre- and post-service of the front and back of house of the allocated bar. This is including, but no limited to, bar storeroom, bar top, associated lounge (where applicable); the bartender is also expected to maintain robust and complete knowledge of all cocktails, mocktails, specials etc and provide exceptional guest service.

Profile

• A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in a similar role. Experience within a luxury resort/hotel preferred.
• Strong knowledge of rums, spirits, etc with basic to intermediate knowledge of wines an asset.
• Knowledge of Micros an asset.
• Ability to communicate at all levels - excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work well independently with little supervision
• Physical capability to stand for prolonged periods of time, as well as exert physical effort in transporting bottles and cases, and endure various physical movements in the work area.
• Ability to work flexible hours
• Valid Antigua & Barbuda Driver's License and Food Handlers Certificate required
