Job summary

affirm is hiring a Software Engineer for the Card Checkout team to build scalable backend systems powering a seamless checkout experience. This is a remote-friendly role based in Spain, with visa sponsorship available and a focus on in-app affirm Card products.

You will break down projects, collaborate across product, design, and analytics, and maintain artifacts with metrics and on-call support. Expect a 2+ year track record and strong code ownership.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience.
• Backend design, development and launch experience.
• Proficient in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiar with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Produces high quality, maintainable code.
• Ability to navigate large code bases and perform reviews.
• Takes ownership and seeks feedback for growth.
• Strong verbal and written communication for global team.

Responsibilities

• Break down projects into tasks and deliver in phases with the team.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics in lifecycle decisions.
• Support operations by monitoring metrics and on-call duties.
• Contribute to team growth through interview and mentoring activities.
• On-Call Rotation is a requirement for this role.
