Job summary

The Hoxton Poblenou in Barcelona is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to support the day-to-day maintenance and operations of the hotel’s facilities and systems. You will lead the Engineering team under the Chief Engineer, ensuring high standards and efficient execution of all maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

Experience in hotel engineering preferred.
Strong leadership and teamwork capabilities.
Willingness to work across maintenance disciplines and shift patterns.

Responsibilities

Assist the Chief Engineer in managing day-to-day maintenance and operation of hotel facilities and systems.
Supervise and coordinate Engineering team, assign tasks and monitor performance.
Ensure preventive maintenance programme is followed and inspections are conducted.
Monitor costs, budgets, stock levels, and purchasing within approved budgets.
Coordinate external contractors and suppliers and ensure safe, compliant works.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Fire Safety regulations.
Oversee maintenance across plumbing, electrical, lighting, furniture and building fabric.
Maintain equipment records and inventory controls; update documentation regularly.
Identify maintenance improvements and efficiency opportunities for the hotel facilities.
Support the Chief Engineer day-to-day and deputise as required.
