Frey Recruitment is seeking a 1st Mate for a 30m performance sailing yacht to join a high‑level racing program in Palma. You will work closely with the Captain and support the yacht’s operation at sea and ashore, including racing at events and ensuring readiness between regattas.

Ideal candidates have a strong sailing background and hold Yachtmaster Offshore certification; prior experience on large performance yachts is preferred.

A 30m performance sailing yacht is seeking a 1st Mate to join an exciting and highly professional racing program.

With several regattas planned throughout 2027, this is a unique opportunity to become part of a program operating at the highest level of performance sailing. Working alongside an experienced race crew, this role would particularly suit someone looking to make the transition into the professional racing world and continue developing within a high-level program.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Captain and 2nd Captain, supporting all aspects of the yacht's operation both on and off the water. The role includes racing at all events, deliveries, shore-side preparation, logistics and ensuring the yacht is maintained in a constant state of operational readiness between events.

The ideal candidate will be a strong sailor with excellent organisational and operational skills. Previous experience on J Class, Maxi or similar high-performance sailing yachts is prefeered, although candidates from other large performance sailing backgrounds will also be considered. This role requires someone who enjoys working as part of a close-knit team and thrives in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

The successful candidate can join any time between now and November, allowing them to integrate into the team during the final Mediterranean events before heading to the Caribbean regatta circuit.
