Job summary

Dedalus in Denmark is seeking a Technical Lead / Team Lead Java to shape the LABKA II platform, guide a Nordic team, and deliver a high-quality LIS solution.

The role blends hands-on development with architectural leadership, coding standards, and delivery planning, with optional team-leading duties.

Fluent Danish and English are required; expect collaboration with Product Management, QA, and distributed teams across sites.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Java development experience and relational database design (laboratory/clinical data)
• Proven experience providing technical leadership, making architecture decisions, and mentoring engineers
• Comfortable combining hands-on technical contribution with technical planning and coordination
• Interest in or experience with selected Team Lead activities is an advantage but not a requirement
• Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) or healthcare software is a strong plus
• Experience coordinating delivery across distributed/multi-site teams
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• CI/CD pipelines, Git, and HL7 interoperability standards in healthcare/laboratory domains
• Fluent in Danish and English

Responsibilities

• Own technical direction and architecture decisions for the LABKA II platform (Java)
• Set and enforce coding standards, technical best practices, and code review discipline
• Identify technical debt and drive remediation within delivery cycles
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for Product Management, Architecture, and Support
• Where agreed, support selected people-leadership activities such as mentoring, development conversations, and hiring input
• Help foster a collaborative, high-quality engineering culture within the team
• Support onboarding of new engineers to the codebase and domain
• If assigned, assist with day-to-day work allocation and team coordination
• Drive sprint and release planning in coordination with Product Management and QA
• Report on technical progress, risks, and quality to stakeholders
• Contribute hands-on to complex development tasks and production troubleshooting
• Participate in code reviews and pair on challenging technical problems
• Stay close enough to the codebase to make credible architecture and prioritization calls

What you’ll achieve

We are looking for a Technical Lead / Team Lead Java to provide hands-on technical leadership for Dedalus Danish market-leading Laboratory Information System (LIS), used across hospitals and laboratories in the Nordic region.

You own the technical direction of the LABKA II codebase — architecture, code quality, engineering standards, and technical decision-making — while guiding and mentoring engineers through technical challenges.

You work closely with Product Management, QA, and the India engineering hub to plan and deliver a stable, high-quality platform. Depending on organizational needs and the candidate’s experience and interest, the role may also include selected Team Lead activities.

You will be in charge of:
