Job summary

Pleo is seeking a hands-on technical leader to design and operate distributed systems and cloud-native services. You’ll apply Domain-Driven Design, build secure APIs, and guide teams across Europe, with occasional offsite travel.

Our stack includes Node.js with TypeScript, Temporal, PostgreSQL, Kafka, and Redis. You’ll mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and promote engineering quality in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Designing and operating distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native services.
• Applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD) to model complex business domains and define clear service boundaries.
• Building maintainable systems following Clean Architecture, Hexagonal Architecture, and similar principles.
• Designing APIs, service integrations, and reliable asynchronous workflows using Temporal.
• Designing secure authentication and authorization solutions with OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and WebAuthn.
• Ensuring scalability, security, observability, and resilience in production.
• Improving shared libraries, project structure, development tooling, and automated QA practices.
• Driving architectural decisions, evaluating trade-offs, and mentoring other engineers.
• Leveraging AI responsibly with guardrails, agents, and tooling to maintain engineering quality.
