Bankdata seeks a Software Developer to develop, maintain and modernise COBOL solutions for cash management processes in Denmark. You will contribute to migrating legacy COBOL towards Java while ensuring robust, high-quality software and close collaboration with a small, experienced team.
The role emphasizes hands-on development across the full cycle, from analysis to implementation and testing, with opportunities to grow into senior technical roles as the modernisation journey progresses.
Would you like to use your COBOL experience for more than maintaining existing systems? In Cash Management, you will have the opportunity to work with solutions that are critical to Danish banks today while helping shape how they are modernised for the future. As part of a newly established team, you will have a say in both our technical direction and the way we collaborate.
You will become part of Cash Management, where we develop and maintain solutions that support key processes for Bankdata’s banks and their customers. You will play an important role in ensuring stable and robust solutions today while also exploring how existing functionality can gradually be modernised from COBOL towards Java-based solutions.
The team consists of three Software Developers, a Business Consultant, a Product Owner and your manager. We have deep business knowledge within Cash Management, while still being a relatively new team. This gives you the opportunity to help shape how we collaborate, our team culture and our technical direction.
We work in an agile way and adjust our ways of working when we see opportunities to improve. You will work both independently and in close collaboration with your colleagues, with knowledge sharing and sparring across business and technology being a natural part of everyday life.
As a Software Developer, you will work across the entire development process - from analysis and design to implementation, testing and quality assurance. You will take responsibility for existing solutions while also having the opportunity to influence our future technical development.
Your responsibilities will include:
During your first 6-12 months, you will:
Build a solid understanding of the Cash Management domain and the business processes supported by our solutions. You will become familiar with our existing COBOL solutions, integrations and key process flows and gradually take responsibility for tasks across the entire development process.
At the same time, you will play an active role in identifying technical dependencies and opportunities for modernisation. Our goal is for you to build close working relationships with the rest of the team and contribute your skills, curiosity and perspectives on how we develop our solutions going forward.
We imagine that you enjoy working with complex technical challenges and are motivated by both understanding existing solutions in depth and exploring how they can evolve.
Most importantly, you:
You may have a relevant educational background in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related field, but relevant practical experience can easily compensate for a formal educational background.
The role can be shaped according to your experience and level of expertise. What matters most is your COBOL experience, technical curiosity and motivation to be part of a modernisation journey.
