Job summary

Trackunit is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to operate and scale its AWS-based platform used by 15,000+ daily users. You will join a Europe-based SRE team, work with Terraform, Argo CD, Kubernetes, and IaC, and help drive incident response and reliability improvements.

You should have 2–5 years of hands-on SRE/DevOps experience, comfort with Git, Linux, Windows, and basic Terraform, plus a collaborative mindset to support developers and customers.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience running workloads on AWS.
  • Basic knowledge with Kubernetes.
  • Basic knowledge about infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform.
  • Comfortable with Git, Linux and Windows.
  • Clear written communication—lots of work happens in tickets, PRs, and docs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and improve the platform: monitoring, alerting, capacity, cost, and small improvements for a large AWS and Kubernetes estate.
  • Make infrastructure changes via Terraform and Helm, PR reviews, and delivery through Atlantis and Argo CD.
  • Keep the platform secure: patching, vulnerability remediation, base image updates, and follow-ups.
  • Participate in incident response: on-call rotation and incident follow-up work.
  • Triage requests from developer teams, unblock them, and spot automation opportunities.

Job description

With an IoT platform connecting more than 6 million units — and growing — Trackunit is building the platform that will enable the construction industry to work faster, smarter, and more securely. And we need you to help run and scale it.

As an SRE, you will join our Europe-based team and be part of a global SRE organization spanning Europe and Canada. This is a hands‑on role focused on the daily operation and continuous improvement of our platform, with room to grow into larger design and architecture work as you build depth.

The platform owned by SRE consists of an AWS cloud, Kubernetes clusters (EKS), and our IaC setup running Terraform and Terramate, as well as a GitOps delivery platform built on Argo CD and Atlantis.

We support engineering teams with 150+ developers. You will help keep a platform used by 15,000+ active users every day secure, available, and easy to build on.

We're looking for someone curious and collaborative — happy to share knowledge and ask questions as well.

Experience level: roughly 2–5 years in an SRE, DevOps, platform, or infrastructure operations role. If you're further along and the day-to-day scope appeals to you.

With locations in the heart of Copenhagen, Kolding, Aarhus, and Aalborg, we offer a flexible setup with the possibility to work from one of our locations — or remotely from anywhere in Denmark.

What's in it for you?
  • International environment with regular check‑ins and social events across teams, departments and borders.
  • We take your personal and professional development goals seriously and we support them through training, coaching, and mindfulness as well as with an open feedback culture to enable you to identify your strengths and opportunities.
  • Flexibility and hybrid working is not just a cliché to us or something we state in a job posting. We offer a flexible setup because we believe you know best how to structure your work. Once you have chosen how you work best, let us know what you need: we got you covered with the IT equipment you need for your work.
  • Turning the Tide. At Trackunit, we aim to create and contribute to an inclusive workplace. And this priority starts with our hiring — we do not discriminate on the basis of gender identity, sexual orientation, personal expression, ethnicity, religious belief, or disability status. We only assess candidates on their qualifications and merit. Learn more about TIDE and other DE&I initiatives here.
What You'll Do
  • Operate and improve the platform. Monitoring, alerting, capacity, cost, and the steady stream of small improvements that keep a large AWS and Kubernetes estate healthy.
  • Work in code, not consoles. Infrastructure changes go through Terraform and Helm, reviewed as pull requests and delivered through Atlantis and Argo CD.
  • Keep the platform secure. Patching, vulnerability remediation, base image updates, and closing findings — a recurring, meaningful part of the job rather than a side task.
  • Take part in incident response. You'll join our on‑call rotation (SRE team, business hours) and contribute to incidents and follow‑up work.
  • Handle triage and requests from developer teams. Understanding what they need, unblocking them, and spotting when a repeated request could be automated.
Who You Are
  • Hands‑on experience running workloads on AWS.
  • Basic knowledge with Kubernetes.
  • Basic knowledge about infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform.
  • Comfortable with Git, Linux and Windows.
  • Clear written communication — a lot of our work happens in tickets, PRs, and docs.
Nice to have, not expected
  • EKS specifically, or tooling like Karpenter, Argo CD, Atlantis, or Terramate.
  • Observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Sumo Logic, or similar).
  • Scripting in Python or Go.
  • Security or compliance work — vulnerability management, CIS benchmarks, certification programmes.
  • Multi‑region or multi‑account AWS architecture.
What Matters More Than The Checklist
  • You’re curious and self‑driven, while also knowing when to ask for help when needed.
  • You finish things. Small, well‑tested changes shipped consistently beat big ideas that stall.
  • You care about the developers and customers using the platform, not just the platform itself.
On AI:

Experience with AI tooling is not a requirement. An interest in working with it is. We already use AI in our daily engineering work — including MCP servers and agents against our own platform — and we expect that to grow. We don’t expect you to have experience with this—but we do expect curiosity and a willingness to learn.

Don't meet every single requirement? No worries — this is what we're looking for ideally,

How You'll Grow Here
  • A rotation model that protects your focus. The team splits between operational duty and project work, so you're not permanently interrupt-driven. You get real blocks of time to go deep on something.
  • Mentorship that's built in. Senior colleagues review your PRs and pair with you on incidents. Asking questions is the expected behaviour, not a sign you're struggling.
  • Exposure to the big architecture work. You'll start with scoped pieces and take on more as you build context.
  • A clear conversation about your development. Regular 1:1s that cover where you want to be, not just what you shipped last sprint.
What We're Building Next

Trackunit is moving from a SaaS company to a platform built on telemetry data from the construction industry worldwide. For SRE, that means going beyond delivering infrastructure to building the capabilities that let our developers and customers spin up environments tailored to their needs in the regions they need them.

Things On Our Roadmap Include
  • Expanding the platform into a true multi‑region architecture.
  • Building self‑service platform capabilities so developer teams move at their own pace.
  • Making better use of AI in our own operations, through MCP servers and agents.
What Happens From Here — Recruitment Process Overview
  • Virtual meet and greet. Meet with a member of our Talent Partner team
  • Personality-based interview. You will be asked to complete an online personality assessment prior to the interview. There are no correct answers and we are not trying to categorise you — the aim is a dialogue about the results and Trackunit's culture, so you get to know us better as well.
  • Assignment-specific interview. You will be given a case to prepare after the initial screening interview. You will present the case to relevant colleagues across Trackunit, who you will also work closely with in the role.
  • Virtual meet and greet. Meet with Engineering Manager, Kåre Brandborg and an SRE team member.
  • References and background checks (if needed). If required, we will obtain references from former employers and perform level‑specific background checks, if you have not provided these yourself.
  • Offer presentation and walk‑through. We're lucky to have you!
