Job description

Senior Mechanical Engineer for Component 2.0
  • Are you a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a passion and flair for product development and mechanical design?
  • Do you want to go deep into the mechanics and physics of a problem and turn that understanding into robust, manufacturable designs?
  • Do you want to solve challenging mechanical problems in close collaboration with highly skilled colleagues and leading companies in the industry?
  • Do you want to be part of an ambitious team and an inclusive, creative engineering community?
  • Do you want to use your mind and capabilities to seek and invent superior solutions to help the industry and the green environment?

Then the job as Senior Mechanical Engineer in Component 2.0 could be the one for you!

We are looking for a mechanical engineer to join our team. You will apply your knowledge of mechanical engineering, product development, and detailed design to develop mechanical components and product solutions for our customers. The projects vary in scope and stage: sometimes it is a single critical component, sometimes a larger part of a product, and you step in where the mechanical challenge is. The position is ideal for a skilled, motivated team member who is excited about creating the most innovative mechanical solutions.

Depth is where we have our success, and depth is what we keep. We are engineers who enjoy going all the way into the fundamental mechanics and physics: loads, stresses, materials, tolerances, friction, wear, and fatigue. We also go into what the manufacturing process does to the geometry. Calculations, simulation, prototypes, and testing are how we get there, and the depth we put into one solution can be carried on to the next. We solve the fundamental problem rather than the single case, so one well-solved component can lift many products, customers, and industries at once.

You will work in a proactive, collaborative environment that focuses on solving and creating. Development is what fills the days here. The organisation around you is built to keep it that way, so your time goes into the engineering rather than into process. We will introduce you to new design methods and tools. You will be challenging what is possible to achieve in products and equipment with the lever of component design. We guarantee that you will expand your network within the industry and work with the best within their field.

In this position, you need:
  • M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Min. 3 years of experience with mechanical product development
  • Experience with CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, NX or similar) and a real understanding of what the manufacturing process does to your geometry
  • A solid foundation in mechanical design: strength calculations, material selection, tolerances, and design for manufacturing
  • Proven ability to handle projects and work in a time-effective environment
  • An eye for where depth in one solution can be carried on into the next
  • Curiosity about new methods and tools, and the drive to use them where they make the engineering better
  • To be a dynamic, committed, and outgoing person who communicates and cooperates well
  • To appreciate working systematically, data-based, and targeted
  • To think proactively, and to prefer digging into a difficult problem over working around it
  • To take responsibility for actions, projects, and people

Most importantly, you are passionate about providing high-quality and innovative solutions and enthusiastic about working together with skilled colleagues and customers to influence the future of mechanical design.

You may not tick every line above, and you do not have to. If you are strong on mechanics and production and want the rest, write anyway.

We offer
  • An opportunity to become part of a successful and enthusiastic development team in an informal and solution-oriented workplace
  • A working day centred on development, with room to go as deep as the problem deserves
  • Solutions with reach: component solutions that are adopted across many products, customers, and industries
  • Competitive employment terms and benefits, good work-life balance, and influence on own tasks
  • Experienced and skilled colleagues with highly diverse backgrounds
