Job description

Technical leadership, robust design and development through industrialisation

Can you take mechanical product development from a mature design to a robust, manufacturable and verified solution—and create the structure and technical momentum needed to get it across the finish line?

Qufora is a fast-growing, design-focused medical device company. We enable people with chronic bowel disorders to live a more fulfilled life by developing intuitive products that make everyday routines easier. We are now looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will play a key role in the later stages of product development and strengthen mechanical engineering as a technical discipline across our R&D organisation.

This role is for an experienced mechanical engineer who is at their best when concepts have matured and the challenge becomes turning them into robust products ready for production and launch. You will work hands–on with mechanical design, tolerances, drawings, materials, tooling, verification and design transfer, with a natural focus on manufacturability and close collaboration with Operations and external suppliers.

At the same time, you will take senior technical ownership within the mechanical engineering domain. You will help create structure, drive technical issues to closure, coordinate mechanical activities and ensure that important decisions and deliverables move forward. This is not a Project Manager role, but it requires the ability to plan and coordinate technical work, bring the right people together, follow up and maintain momentum across interfaces.

Your key responsibilities
  • Take technical ownership of mechanical development activities in the later phases of product development, from mature design through verification, design transfer, industrialisation and launch.
  • Develop and mature plastic and injection‑moulded components and assemblies with a strong focus on robustness, manufacturability, functionality and consistent product performance.
  • Create and review high‑quality 3D CAD models and production‑ready 2D drawings, applying sound dimensioning and tolerancing principles, ISO GPS/GD&T and statistical tolerance analysis where relevant.
  • Drive mechanical issues, design decisions and technical deliverables to closure, creating clear structure, priorities and follow‑up across the mechanical work.
  • Work closely with Operations, external manufacturers, suppliers and toolmakers on DFM/DFA, tooling, process capability, material choices, tolerances and the transition from development into stable production.
  • Lead and coordinate mechanical engineering activities across projects and provide technical direction, sparring and review within the mechanical engineering domain.
  • Plan and coordinate technical work packages, clarify dependencies and responsibilities, and ensure timely escalation when technical or cross‑functional decisions are needed.
  • Support design verification and validation by ensuring that mechanical requirements, risk controls, test strategies and acceptance criteria are technically sound and traceable.
  • Contribute to design control and risk management activities and ensure that mechanical documentation is complete, consistent and ready for design transfer and regulatory scrutiny.
  • Strengthen Qufora’s mechanical engineering practices, including standards and ways of working for CAD, drawings, tolerancing, design reviews, technical documentation and robust design.
  • Support lifecycle activities and product improvements where strong mechanical engineering, root‑cause analysis and structured problem solving are required.
Your experience and qualifications
  • A relevant BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Development or a comparable technical discipline.
  • Typically, 8+ years of experience in mechanical product development, with substantial hands‑on experience taking products through the later development phases and into production.
  • Strong practical experience with plastic components and injection‑moulded product development, including tooling, materials, DFM/DFA and supplier collaboration.
  • Advanced skills in 3D CAD and 2D technical drawings; experience with SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing, ISO GPS/GD&T, tolerance chains and preferably statistical tolerance analysis.
  • A track record of creating robust, production‑ready designs and solving complex mechanical issues systematically through closure.
  • Experience coordinating technical activities or acting as a technical lead, including planning work, aligning contributors, following up and driving decisions without being the formal Project Manager.
  • Experience working closely with Operations and external manufacturers during industrialisation and design transfer; experience from medical devices or another regulated product‑development environment is highly preferred.
  • Professional proficiency in English. Danish is an advantage, as much of the daily collaboration takes place in a Danish‑speaking environment.
How you work

You bring structure to complex technical work and have a strong drive to finish what has been started. You are analytical and detail‑oriented without losing sight of progress, priorities and the overall product. You are comfortable challenging technical assumptions, making issues explicit and following through until decisions are made and actions are completed. You naturally build strong working relationships with Operations, external manufacturers, suppliers and cross‑functional colleagues, and you know that a good design is not finished until it can be manufactured robustly and consistently. You enjoy being the senior technical reference point in your field while remaining hands‑on and close to engineering work.

What Qufora offers

You will join an inclusive, creative and open workplace with dedicated colleagues who care deeply about improving quality of life for our users. We offer an ambitious development environment where you will have significant influence on both our products and the way we work with mechanical engineering. You will have the opportunity to combine hands‑on engineering with technical leadership and play an important role in turning promising designs into robust products ready for patients, healthcare professionals and scalable production.
