Job summary

Welltec® is seeking a Senior Embedded Engineer/Software Developer to join the Development and Engineering team in Denmark. You will maintain and improve embedded firmware for motors, sensors, actuators, valves and data communication, and lead system architecture from embedded to cloud.

You will train other engineers, collaborate with hardware teams and external consultants, and co-own the software release process while driving data infrastructure and innovative solutions for challenging

The department

As Senior Embedded Software Developer you will join our Development and Engineering team, currently consisting of 30 colleagues with various nationalities and educational backgrounds within electronic, firmware and mechanical design. We typically work in smaller groups together to get a holistic approach to our products and tools and to benefit from each other’s knowledge and expertise.

Furthermore, it can be challenging and hectic due to the nature of the industry we operate in but simultaneously rewarding and exciting as we solve real life challenges for customers globally.

The position

The main success drivers in this position are to maintain and improve embedded firmware solutions to our existing and new intervention tools consisting of motors, sensors, actuators, valves and data communication infrastructure and therefore the overall architecture must be well structured. The Senior Embedded Engineer/Software Developer maintains and leads system architecture from embedded to cloud, specifications, implementation through to test and validation.

Beside the technical tasks, you will act the technical lead together with another Senior Embedded Engineer and train other engineers in best practices and procedures related to embedded software. Furthermore, you will be in periods be the liaison between D&E and 2-3 external consultants who perform firmware related tasks for Welltec.

As our new Senior Embedded Engineer/Software Developer you will:

• Define, plan, lead, and implement data infrastructure connecting several devices
• Cooperate with sub-contractors
• Co-own the embedded software release process
• Participate in exhibition and forums related Data Protocols, Embedded Electronics, Sensor applications, motor- and valvedrivers etc.
• Challenge the business with new ideas and concepts
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the Development and Engineering Department

The candidate

You are a passionate Senior Embedded Engineer/Software Developer with strong experience in efficient data infrastructure ranging from low level serial communication to local network to cloud solutions.

You would like the challenge of creating reliable data connection for controlling and visualisation of robotic operations for extreme harsh environments. In addition, you get energized from working in close collaboration with the best hardware and firmware designers, consultants, and sub-contractors.

As a person, you are creative, practical, and organized in both the design and verification process of your system designs. Finally, you have a good overview of projects, tasks and stakeholder communication and like to take the lead on complex challenges to provide the best possible solution to your stakeholders. You like to assume responsibility and provide guidance to the team in order to ensure a consistent high quality of embedded software design and implementation.

The preferred candidate has the following profile:

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree and specialized in embedded software development
• Minimum 7 years’ of experience in embedded software, design and implementation
• Expierenced in selecting protocols for the different protocol layers
• Proactive with an energetic attitude towards implementing embedded software systems and continual improvements
• Ability to work in teams across departments
• Project management skills or flair

The following technical skills and competencies are required:

• Programming in C++17, using STL, knowing design patterns
• Familiar with TCP/IP, Ethernet, UART, CAN, USB under Linux
• Deep understanding of Realtime Operating Systems
• Code documentation with Doxygen
• Docker: build images, run containers, host-container interface
• Working with git, svn, Azure DevOps, make, gcc and Linux server
• Professionalism in software design and architecture, system design
• Google unit-testing on high level
• Microcontroller programming in C and assembler
• Experienced in implememnting low level serial data protocols

Further, it is an advantage but not a requirement if you are familiar with:

• IOT and Automotive data protocols
• FPGA programming
• Experiences with MPLAB and dsPIC-Microcontroller serie
• TMS320 and C2000 IDE
• gRPC
• Know how to use a oscilloscope or logic ananlyzer
• Bash shell scripting
• C# is an advantage
• Familiar to work in an international environment on cross site projects
• Knowledge of electronics
