Job summary

Ramboll is seeking a High Voltage Substation Primary Engineer in Denmark to design and engineer HV substations up to 400 kV. You will work in multidisciplinary teams across project stages from concept to commissioning, contributing technical expertise and ensuring robust, safe high-voltage solutions.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering, several years of primary design experience, and fluency in Danish and English.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Several years of primary design experience for transmission or distribution substations.
• Experience with high-voltage primary engineering in substations.
• Fluent in Danish and English, both spoken and written.
• Valid driver’s license (Category B).
• Structured and quality-focused approach to daily work tasks.
• Collaborative mindset with knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review AIS and GIS substations up to 400 kV.
• Develop substation layouts, bay arrangements, busbar systems, earthing and protection solutions.
• Prepare technical specifications, tender documentation and equipment data sheets.
• Perform and verify key design calculations (current capacity, short-circuit, voltages).
• Coordinate interfaces with protection, control, cables, civil, and other disciplines.
• Support procurement, supplier follow-up, design reviews, FAT/SAT and commissioning activities.
• Work with clients and project managers on technical solutions, scope, risks, estimates, and change management.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to strengthen primary engineering capabilities.
