Job summary

Responsibilities

• Build, configure, and migrate embedded Linux environments, including managing Yocto layers, recipes, and BSPs.
• Develop software for NB‑IoT protocol stacks and other communications protocols.
• Execute software development after design and architecture phases, delivering defined functionality.
• Work independently on embedded software implementation while aligning with the client's internal platform framework.
• On-site work at Aalborg or Lyngby, coordinating with client teams.

Coalesce Management Consultancy (CMC) have a consulting assignment available for a Senior Systems Engineer, to work on a project we have in Copenhagen, Denmark.

We are looking to support one of our project teams with a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, for a project we are supporting a client with in the satellite communications industry.

Overview

We are looking for an embedded software engineer with deep expertise in embedded Linux and hands‑on Yocto experience to support an upcoming embedded project in the satellite/IoT communications space.

You will be working on a platform closely tied to the client’s internal architecture, building and customising embedded environments for communications applications.

You can work either at the client's site in Aalborg or their site in Lyngby, Greater Copenhagen Region

Responsibilities

• Build, configure, and migrate embedded Linux environments, including managing Yocto layers, recipes, and board support packages.
• Execute software development after the internal design and architecture phase is complete, focusing on implementing the defined functionality.
• Work independently on embedded software implementation while staying within the client's internal platform framework.
• Develop and integrate software for NB‑IoT (Narrowband IoT) protocol stacks and other communications protocols.
• Apply NB‑IoT expertise to satellite communications constraints where applicable, including non‑terrestrial network adaptations.

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience with embedded Linux systems, including kernel configuration, device tree, and root filesystem customisation.
• Hands‑on, proven experience building and moving between Yocto environments, including custom layers, recipes, and BSP management
• Demonstrable experience with NB‑IoT (Narrowband IoT) protocol stacks and integration into embedded systems.
• Experience applying NB‑IoT within a satellite communications context (highly desirable but not a must have).
• Ability to work independently on embedded software implementation within defined platform constraints.

You would be able to operate as an independent consultant or employed consultant for this assignment, which I can support with. You will also be required to go on‑site.
