Job summary

Coalesce Management Consultancy seeks a senior Systems Engineering Consultant to lead PCBA/embedded design for wind turbine electronics, with high-reliability boards exposed to lightning. The role requires on-site performance and collaboration with the client’s teams.

You will implement surge protection, EMI/EMC hardening, perform FMEA, align with manufacturing capabilities, and support certification and functional safety activities.

Qualifications

Coalesce Management Consultancy (CMC) have a consulting assignment available for a Systems Engineering Consultant, to work on a project we have in Copenhagen, Denmark.

We are looking to support one of our project teams with a Systems Engineering Consultant, for a project we are supporting a client with.

Overview

We are seeking a senior electronics design consultant (PCBA/embedded) for wind turbine internals. The role focuses on high-reliability PCBAs for lightning-prone turbine blades, where repeated transient surges demand uninterrupted operation. Any communication failure can halt a multi-MW power plant.

Responsibilities

• Lead PCBA design for deployment across turbine zones, with emphasis on blade-mounted electronics exposed to lightning.
• Implement surge protection, transient suppression, and EMC/EMI hardening to withstand severe electrical events.
• Perform FMEA with focus on lightning-induced common-cause failures and cascading operational risks.
• Align designs with manufacturing capabilities (DFM/DFA) and support certification / functional safety activities.

Requirements

• 10+ years in electronics design, specifically PCBA and embedded systems.
• Proven experience designing for harsh, mission-critical environments (e.g. antennas, satcom, radar, outdoor infrastructure).
• Strong expertise in layout, signal integrity, grounding, and surge protection.
• Track record in risk assessment, FMEA, and high-reliability system design.
• Familiarity with functional safety or lightning protection standards (e.g. IEC 62305) desirable.
• Remote-capable with strong collaboration skills.

You would be able to operate as an independent consultant or employed consultant for this assignment, which I can support with. You will also be required to go on-site.
