Job summary

NACOS Marine seeks a Senior Software Developer (I/O Firmware) to join its R&D team. You will design, implement, maintain and validate embedded firmware across products, including OSes, protocol stacks, and real-time control logic.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, CS, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Extensive embedded firmware and protocol development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience implementing communication protocols and stacks for embedded apps.
• Knowledge of microcontroller architectures, DMA, interrupts, and peripherals.
• Experience with RTOS concepts and real-time software architectures.
• SCRUM Master experience and agile methodologies.
• Strong debugging skills with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.

Responsibilities

• Act as SCRUM Master within the development team and support agile processes.
• Design, develop, and optimize embedded firmware for resource-constrained systems using C/C++.
• Develop software for ARM Cortex-M, RISC-V, and similar MCUs.
• Implement protocol stacks and interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, TCP/IP, MQTT, etc.).
• Develop transport, session, and application-layer functionality and state machines.
• Define protocol specs, packet formats, and system state models.
• Optimize firmware for latency, throughput, and power consumption.
• Incorporate cybersecurity features and OTA update validation.
• Integrate software with RTOS environments (Embedded Linux, FreeRTOS, Zephyr).
• Create tests, unit/integration tests, and protocol validation frameworks.
• Troubleshoot firmware and comm issues with diagnostic tools.
• Collaborate with hardware, QA, and systems engineering teams.
• Review designs and code; maintain documentation and API references.
