Job summary

Camunda is an enterprise platform for agentic orchestration, enabling AI agents, people, and systems to coordinate across complex business processes. This Senior Backend Software Engineer, focused on reliability and chaos testing, will own automated testing at Camunda 8 and help drive platform stability and performance.

You’ll work autonomously to strengthen production systems, learn new technologies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve observability and resilience at scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering (Java).
• Proven drive to experiment, learn new tech, and conduct automated reliability and chaos testing in distributed environments.
• Autonomous, pragmatic problem-solving skills with an ability to guide and influence others.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and execute automated chaos experiments and reliability tests, validating Camunda’s platform under real-world scenarios.
• Continuously improve load testing, chaos engineering and observability infrastructure to keep the system reliable and performant.
• Collaborate with QA and engineering to share learnings and influence team roadmaps based on experiment findings.
• Champion pragmatic, autonomous software design and learn new technologies such as Kubernetes, Helm, Grafana, Java, and Go.
