Job summary

Axelera AI in Europe seeks a Senior/Staff Software Engineer for the Model Enablement team to build the model enablement platform and determine execution across Metis or Europa AIPU, host CPU and accelerators. You will work across the frontend, graph compiler, runtime and application pipeline to optimize performance end-to-end.

The role blends architecture and hands-on work, covering frontend and device-side concerns.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of engineering experience in systems, compilers, runtimes or performance.
• Hands-on experience with heterogeneous computing across CPU, GPU, DSP, NPU or FPGA.
• Fundamentals in computer architecture, operating systems and parallel programming.
• Familiarity with ML graph representations and compiler concepts: graph capture (torch.export, FX, ONNX), lowering, operator fusion, partitioning.
• Strong C++ and Python.
• Daily use of AI coding agents on real engineering work, with the judgment to review and test their output.

Responsibilities

• Model enablement platform and agent harness: Build the platform that engineers and AI agents use to bring up models and perform verification.
• Model ingestion: Capture, analyse and split models across the AIPU units and host accelerators with placement tags read/overridden by users.
• Heterogeneous execution: Extend split to large models and multi-model pipelines with offloading and caching.
• End-to-end performance: Collaborate with pipeline and runtime teams to maximize overlap, zero-copy, batching and scheduling.
• Study high-impact models and translate lessons into platform improvements.
