Job summary

Siteimprove’s Search Insights team builds tools to help customers understand and improve how their content performs in search, including AI assistants that answer questions on their behalf. We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to shape technical direction and build scalable systems with AI at the core.

Join us to lead design reviews, own end-to-end features, and mentor engineers across Europe and North America while delivering high-impact insights for enterprise-scale data and content

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science.
• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years building and running services and APIs on a public cloud (preferably AWS).
• Track record of architecture decisions spanning several teams with trade-off justifications.
• Ownership of features/services end-to-end after release.
• Hands-on experience with coding agents in production.
• Deep understanding of software design, algorithms, and data structures.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the technical direction of the team; write system designs and participate in design reviews.
• Design and build scalable services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Lead AI integration across the product development lifecycle; translate PRDs into technical vision and epics.
• Improve scaffolding for agent-driven delivery: prompts, prompts, and testing practices.
• Maintain data trust with tests, monitoring, and error handling.
• Define quality metrics, drift detection, and explain results to customers.
• Mentor engineers through reviews and technical proposals.
