Job summary

Hamamatsu Photonics A/S is seeking an Optical Engineer for Quantum Laser Systems to lead the development, assembly and testing of advanced laser systems based on ultra-stable fiber lasers. You will collaborate with sales, support and cross-disciplinary teams to translate customer needs into scalable photonic solutions.

The role requires a Master level in photonics or a related field, fluent English, hands-on lab expertise and programming experience (Python).

Qualifications

Master level in photonics/optics or related field.
Fluent English, written and spoken.
Willingness to travel up to 10% annually, potentially globally.
Hands-on lab experience in free-space and fiber optics.
Experience programming (preferably Python).
Strong understanding of lasers, light amplification, and frequency stabilization.

Responsibilities

Lead development, assembly and testing of custom laser systems and prototypes.
Interface with sales and support to provide updates on product developments.
Assist with after-sales support and repairs/upgrades.
Capture customer requirements for quantum computing and sensing; translate into fiber laser systems.
Ensure manufacturability and production scalability of laser systems.
Support development of complex electronics control systems and IP generation.
