Position Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for leading workplace transformation initiatives and optimizing facility operations for life sciences clients. This role manages complex projects that enhance workplace efficiency, employee experience, and operational performance while ensuring compliance with stringent industry regulations and safety standards specific to life sciences environments.
Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field required. 5-7 years of progressive project management experience in facilities management, corporate real estate, or workplace services. Minimum 3 years of experience working within life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotech, or highly regulated laboratory environments. PMP, LEED AP, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
Deep understanding of life sciences facility requirements including laboratory design, cleanroom operations, biosafety protocols, and equipment-intensive environments. Proficiency in project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Lean) and tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana). Knowledge of building systems, HVAC requirements for controlled environments, and critical utility management. Experience with CAFM/IWMS platforms and workplace analytics tools. Strong financial acumen including budget development, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
Working knowledge of FDA regulations, cGMP requirements, ISO standards applicable to life sciences facilities. Understanding of biosafety level (BSL) requirements and associated facility design considerations. Familiarity with laboratory safety standards, chemical handling protocols, and environmental compliance requirements.
Exceptional communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences from laboratory scientists to C-suite executives. Strong problem-solving capabilities and ability to navigate complex, ambiguous situations in fast-paced environments. Proven ability to influence without authority and build consensus among stakeholders with competing priorities. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects. Adaptable and resilient, comfortable working in dynamic environments with evolving requirements.
This position operates within life sciences facilities including laboratories, cleanrooms, manufacturing areas, and office environments. May require PPE usage and adherence to strict safety protocols when accessing controlled areas. Flexibility to work on-site at client facilities with occasional evening or weekend hours to minimize disruption to operations.
